Study on Ultraviolet Photodetector modified by Au Nanoparticles on ZnO Nanowires

Abstract Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a direct wideband gap semiconductor material with band of 3.37eV at room temperature. It can absorb ultraviolet light wavelength shorter than 385nm and blind to visible light. Using different growth methods or conditions, the final prepared ZnO nanomaterials have structures, which be presented as nano dots, nanowires, nanoribbons, rings, tubes other structures. In this paper, (UV) photodetector (PD) nanowires (NWs) was first by wet etching hydrothermal method. Then, gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs) used metal surface modification characterize performance PD, study NPs on detector explored. After testing, improved responsivity about 12 times absorption also certain extent. This paper provides valuable reference for selection UV PDs based NWs modification.
